Microcredit: 1st loan of 40€/woman. The program now reaches almost 1000 women, organized in savings/credit groups and to over 2677 (3/2008) very poor households (individual loans). We observe an increase in incomes of 20-50%/year. More information
Latrines and clean wells: incentive of 2,5 to 22 €/household. The people want practical solutions. Most have neither a well nor a clean latrine. Every year over 600 households equip themselves this way. An evaluation has shown that 90% new wells and latrines were perfectly clean. More information
Agriculture:60 €/year/20 peasants. An agronomist may give advice, but they listen better to fellow farmers of the village who have succeeded. So our agronomist attends the farmers' groups meetings, answers the questions, provides seeds if necessary (at cost price) etc. but does not "teach". More information
Scholarships19 €/child/year. Sometimes the poorest cannot pay for the school any longer and drop out. We provide scholarships to 2.371 children (02/2008). The villagers, teachers and parents... run a few kilometers for the "marathon solidarity". More than 70.000 people participated in 2007 and they collected 3500€ in the villages. More information
Train a para vet: 178 €. The trainings are provided by Thiên Chí, an official certificate is delivered at the end of the course. Most trained para vets practice their new job full time, they are paid by the farmers for their services. Each such para vet make their community save approximately 200 €/month (saved animals). Health at school: 1 €/child/year. 127 primary schools and 52.000 children participate. The cost per child is about 3 € of which 2 € are provided by the parents and the schools. The teachers are trained to active pedagogy, the children work in groups, play games and do practical exercices on health. A precise follow-up has proven the huge impact on their health. Often they now know better than their parents! More information
Action-theatre: 30€/spectacle. 2 theatre groups have been set up, with peasants of the area trained by Mekong Plus. They each present 4 shows a week (except during the rainy season) and on average have 200 people watching each evening. The themes are waste management, clean water, family planning, alcoholism. The public is excited, goes on stage... the goal is to change attitudes. More information
Help one household out of deep poverty: 120 €. A global approach to help an extremely poor family ( approximately 100 euros/person/year) to get out of poverty in 3-4 years. Today (3/2008) 4088 households participate, with usually an increase in income of 25%/year. More information
