 Terre d'Oc needs rattan to diffuse house perfumes. But rattan has almost disappeared in Vietnam, in Cambodia as well and Cambodia is said to forbid exports to Vietnam soon. The authorities have however trusted Thiên Chí and given it access to the forests in Hàm Thuân Nam, with a plan to replant the precious rattan on a massive scale.
This generates significant employment for the poor ethnic minorities in the region: planting, surveillance, harvesting... 50 jobs have been thus created. Terre d'Oc offers a good price for the processed rattan, shipped every month to France. The profits are used for the development programs in the same villages. |
